EU ERA4Health grant: Potential of D-Serine

We are pleased to announce that Prof. Gregor Hasler and Dr. Josua Zimmermann, University of Fribourg and Lake Lucerne Institute, have received a prestigious EU ERA4Health grant to lead a clinical trial investigating the potential of D-serine, a non-essential amino acid and modulator of the brain’s NMDA receptor, to enhance neuroplasticity and reduce age-related cognitive decline in humans. This grant application was supported by Josua Zimmermann as part of a larger collaboration between University of Fribourg and LLUI.

This important project aims to deepen our understanding of brain health and the role of nutrition in reducing age-related cognitive decline. Congratulations to the team, and we look forward to the impactful insights this study will bring!
